She received her B.A. in Education and Elementary Teaching Credential from the University of San Diego. She received her M.A. in Language Arts Curriculum Design from San Diego State University. After teaching in the Solana Beach School District, Birka joined San Diego French-American School in 2005. Birka has two children who attend SDFAS and they enjoy visiting family in Qu\u00e9bec, Canada during the summer. Teaching is a true passion for Birka and she loves working with children of all ages.
