Please make sure to carefully review the following SDFAS policies
Please submit the following form prior to the first day of school on Tuesday, August 29:
  • Acknowledgment Form (REQUIRED) attesting that you have reviewed and agree to the three policies listed above.

Medical Forms:

IMPORTANT! If you have not already, please complete the required documents below by Monday, August 21st! Please note that it may take up to 3 business days for our staff to process the required paperwork.

To be able to administer any medication (prescription and OTC) at school or on SDFAS field trips, state and local laws require the following every school year:

Physical medication to be administered with original packaging and pharmacy label

Kindergarten – New Students – Medical Packet.pdf: (1) Copy of Student’s Immunizations (2) Parent consent for Administration of Medications and Medication Chart (3) Report of medical examination for school entry (4) SDFAS Emergency Health Card (5) SDFAS Aggressive Behaviors and Biting Policy (6) Parent’s Guide to Immunizations (for parent’s to keep).

Must be on file prior to the first day as REQUIRED BY STATE LAW or child will not be allowed to attend school:

Physician’s Report and Proof of immunization/vaccines (see Guide to Immunizations for PK and K)

1st Grade: A School Entry Health Checkup is required for all incoming 1st graders.

7th Grade: Please be reminded that all incoming 7th graders must have their Tdap booster before school starts.

Immunization Records for New Students: Proof of immunization and vaccines must be on file by Monday, August 21st. As required by law, a child will not be allowed to attend school if these records are not on file.

Health Office Updates:

NEW Stocked Medications: SDFAS is pleased to offer stocked OTC medications for students with parental consent. These medications are meant to allow non contagious students to remain at school. Tylenol, Ibuprofen, Benadryl, Tums, and Neosporin will be administered only by the school nurse and only with a signed parental consent form.

Covid Updates:

There were no major changes to the COVID recommendations for schools set forth by the state or San Diego County. Free masks and antigen tests remain available for pick up in the health office. Please click here for the full SDFAS COVID policy.

Transportation

San Diego French-American School is happy to offer students from North County access to and from our school through our Transportation Program. The North County Bus stops in Carlsbad, Encinitas, and Carmel Valley. The School also  offers a “Coronado Shuttle” route with morning service ONLY that picks up in Coronado and Old Town.

Back to School Events: August/September

Please refer to our events calendar for all our  upcoming school wide events. 

Here are some important dates at a glance: 

Monday, August 28: Orientation Day: 9:00 AM – 11:30 AM

Tuesday, August 29: First Day of School

Monday, September 11: Back-to-School Night: PK, K, and Middle School

Wednesday, September 13: Back-to-School Night: Elementary

Mark Your Calendars - Picture Day

Picture Day will take place on Tuesday, October 3 and Wednesday, October 4 for Elementary and Middle School, and on Thursday, October 5 for Kindergarten, PK2 and PK1. This year, the retake will take place on Thursday, November 9 — more information to follow.

Extended Care & After School Activities (ASA)

  • Extended Care

Registration for the 2023/2024 school year is now open! You may click HERE to sign up for Morning Care and for Afternoon Care, which will be offered from PK through Grade 8 as early as 7:45 am and as late as 5:30 pm. Please note that Extended Care (Before and After school) will not start until Thursday, August 31st. All students must be picked up by dismissal on August 29th and August 30th. 

  • Study Hall

The Study Hall registration is now open for the first semester. Please click HERE to register your child. Please note that study hall will start on Tuesday September 5th, after students officially get homework assignments. Register early as we have limited space.

After-School Activities (ASA)

  • After-School Activities (ASA): Begins September 11, 2023
  • Registration Dates will be open from August 17-September 11
  • Registrations for ASAs closes Tuesday, September 5. Please note: NO REFUNDS will be issued and classes cannot be switched once registration closes.
  • ASA’s are subject to cancellation if classes do not meet the minimum of six (6) enrollees.

Please note that ASAs for the current term (Fall term) will start the week of September 11th and will run through January 26th.

 Our ASA program is designed to enrich students’ classroom learning and is connected to real-world experiences and skills.

Our Enrichment Department has added some exciting new activities to its schedule. Please check back as more classes will be added.

Please stop by our enrichment table on Orientation Day so you can get information about some ASAs and Before and After school care.


 

Lunch Service

Girard Gourmet delivers freshly made hot and cold food to the SDFAS campus. As in prior years, lunches are plated and served outdoors.

  • Gluten-free and vegetarian options are available
