Micaela Maldera
Preschool Associate Teacher

Micaela Blu Maldera has been a part of SDFAS since the 2020–2021 school year and is currently a Kindergarten Teacher Associate.

Born and raised in Rome, Italy, she began studying foreign languages (English, French, and German) in middle school. She earned a B.A. in Modern Foreign Languages from Tor Vergata University in Rome.

After graduating, she left Italy to explore other countries and improve her English, spending time in the UK, Australia, and New Zealand.

She also lived in Germany and Israel. She is fluent in French and English, has a basic level of German and Hebrew, and enjoys trying to speak Spanish as well.

Before moving to San Diego, she lived in Dallas, Texas, where she worked as an ESL Teacher Aide at a local high school.

She loves working at the French-American School because she embraces its values of open-mindedness, intellectual curiosity, and empathy. She couldn’t imagine not working in a multicultural environment.

Outside of school, she enjoys traveling, taking long walks on the beach, doing Pilates, and teaching Italian.

Micaela is proud to be a member of the San Diego French-American School and looks forward to making a positive impact every day.
